Horizons' Lecture List

book

Jewish textual study is arguably the world’s most thrilling relationship with books; the Quest Program aims to show you why! Explore topics such as feminism, fundamentalism and “chosenness” through the eyes of Torah and its classic commentaries, via the interactive and stimulating “Toras Chaim” approach.

Learn the text… and live the land! Quest is an excellent opportunity for those with an interest in Judaism who have yet to visit Israel—as well as for Birthright alumni who would love to return.

The class will meet 1:00-2:00pm in the Hillel Lounge (Hunter East 1317A) on the following Mondays: 9/21, 10/19, 10/26, 11/2, 11/9, 11/16, 11/23, 12/7. Note: you must apply and be accepted to the program. (See application link, below.)

Students who attend all eight sessions will qualify for an all-expenses-paid certificate to attend the JLE (men) or HaMerkaz (women) trips in summer 2010, conducted by Ohr Somayach International and its affiliates. Both trips combine engaging instruction by world-class teachers with a robust touring schedule—Masada, the Kineret, mystical Meron, the Hermon Mountains, and of course a thorough exploration of Jerusalem “City of Gold” are just a few of the breathtaking experiences which await you.

Quest classes are taught by R’ Yaakov Burgess of Horizons Campus Outreach. R’ Burgess, a graduate of the University of Michigan, has been involved at Hunter Hillel since February 2008.

For more information about Quest or the trips, call R’ Burgess at 845 425 3863.
